Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I see a lot of discussions going on about trimming posts. I will be the first to admit I am extremely lazy when it comes to this and I just hit reply, so guilty as charged! J If any of you have a simple, concise explanation of the correct way to trim and reference previous posts, can you send it to me and I will post it (giving credit to you, of course)? I will also set it up in the Files section. That way we can end this discussion and educate everyone, including me, on the proper protocol. I have a file in the Files section about trimming posts, but it says if you need more details to contact me, well, that would be really helpful, no? So you experienced Yahoo Group people, I would be very grateful for the help so we can get back to talking about IE and also stop driving our digest people crazy! J Thanks everybody! Thanks! Guest guest
One of my other lists has a very strict policy about trimming posts. If someone doesn't, the mods do it and there appears a note at the top of the post saying something like 'excessive quote trimmed by moderator' or something like that AND you get a auto reply alerting you to your 'infraction'. Even though I've been on this list about five years, I still occasionally forget. I have been known to realise afterwards, then delete my original, and repost a correctly trimmed version I just hate getting those reminder notes <blush> They are good mods though. I " m on another list that gets off topic like you would not believe. It can go for weeks with masses of posts, but hardly a single one on topic. That never happens on this list and it's always easy to read and find things because they keep it so organised and the posts nicely trimmed. This is a pretty fair representation of what I do. Just leave a sentence or two to show what I am replying to and who wrote it, so it's not mixed up with my words and no one has to search around to figure out what the heck I " m replying to. > I see a lot of discussions going on about trimming posts.
