Guest guest
We don't have a DAN doctor here. I do have a supportive family doctor who I tell things and he says " Oh, and that works, good keep trying and let me know how it goes " . He is a bit reluctant to do testing for allergies, mercury, yeast, etc, but he does want her to see a pediatric neurologist. I would still be stuck in a rut if not for the list and not have any knowledge of most of this stuff. I plan on getting the books that were mentioned, but we are basically without a knowledgeable doctor in our area. Sad to say it, but some of the people in the area are turning to me for their advice because I am the only one they have heard of doing this with results. Well, that really wasn't any help, was it? I guess I am saying that it can be done without a DAN doc. I am hoping eventually to find one within 4 hours for general consultation, but I am doing pretty good right now. In a few months that will be my next step. .......................... > I guess my questions is do I really need a doctor > (i.e. Developmental Ped)? > There are no DAN Doctors in Michigan. > > I guess I feel really alone. Guest guest
I would try the ARI (Autism Research Institute) list and see if you can find a nurse or homeopath there. I had no luck finding a good DAN! dr. but am working with a great lady who is a nurse and knows the DAN! protocol and she's directed me with all of the supp. and testing. I wouldn't say you need a dr. but it couldn't hurt to have one if he was knowledgable and open minded about autism. My experience with all of our doctors is that none of them can agree if my child is actually autistic (which she is) and none of them know anything about it!! Hope this helps. There are DAN doctors in those states. Many don't see them on a regular basis. We drive almost 2 hours to get to ours. a
Guest guest
What ever you do don't leave it up to the school. Today I found a place in Louisville Kentucky called Kentuckiana. They are a nonprofit organization and they charge buy income. They do not turn any child away because of money. They do not except insurance. This is quite a drive for you but they offer to find a doctor closer to you that is knowledgeable with the different treatments in autism. They are sending me an application. Give them a call maybe they can help. I spoke with Cheryl Ward she was very nice. They have a website too www.kentuckiana.org check it out.
