Guest guest
Today we had our first appt. with a DAN Dr. He asked questions that NO dr. has ever asked and he looked noticed things about my son that NO dr. has ever noticed. After the exam, he stated that he wanted us off of all refined sugar as well as gluten and casein. We've been gfcf for 3 months with small improvements. He also ordered an organic acid test and gave us supplements to take. I met with the nutritionist, but all I could think was...no more wonderful Ms. Robens Choc. Chip Cookies, no more great cocoa crispie treats...I finally have this down to a system with lunches and snacks and have managed to bake treats that my son actually loves. Now I have to find no sugar subs. Is anyone on a gfcf and no sugar or low sugar diet? I can really use some ideas. I went cold turkey on the gfcf part, and I have such a good kid that it was met with very little resistance. This will be hard, but everything this dr. said was astounding. He likened the gut brain issue to fuel in a car. His analogy was that you don't put lousy fuel in a Porche, but we're taking these kids and putting food in them that is treated with chemicals. We're immunizing them with vaccines that could be lethal and we're exposing them to toxins that could comprimise their already oversensitive systems. I walked out overwhelmed, but determined that I'm doing the right thing. That said, I hope you will provide some much appreciated advise about the best way to remove sugar. I sure wish I'd known about this when my son was 2. Now I have a 10 year old that is addicted to sweets. Please feel free to email me if you like, and I would be happy to share the other details of the drs. visitas well. Please excuse the length of this post and thank you all for keeping me sane!
