Hi Everyone,

I just wanted everyone to know that everything is alright following

Hurricane Ike. I evacuated to nearby Lumberton, Texas with the police and fire

departments, and we returned the next day. Prior to leaving, my sister took my

mother to her house, so I knew she would be safe.

My house didn’t sustain any damage, but there is a section of the fence

that’s leaning. There are also a lot of downed limbs around the area. There

isn’t any electricity in the area, but the other utilities are working. Right

now, I’m on Emergency 12-hour shifts until the situation has been resolved.

Fortunately, the Port Arthur area did not get the massive flooding that was

predicted by the news media, except for the Sabine Pass area of town. Other

areas, such as neighboring Bridge City, also received massive flooding. Many of

my friends who live there reported having 2-7 feet of water in their houses.

All I can do is hope for the best for those whose houses were flooded.

I really appreciate everyone’s concern, and I will try to keep everyone

posted as best I can during the aftermath of Ike. Thank you for everything, and

I will be in touch.
