Guest guest
FYI *Press Release/March 9, 2011* * * *9-1-1 MAGAZINE’s new face on the Web* For 23 years, *9-1-1 MAGAZINE** *provided information to the public-safety communications community, helping improve response times of emergency services. Moving its format to the Internet has allowed *9-1-1 MAGAZINE* to develop the industry’s first Web Portal – *9-1-1MAGAZINE.com**.* Even though the magazine had international distribution, the portal will now reach a much larger worldwide audience of emergency communications management professionals. The magazine’s home page is the portal of the industry, where they can find links to featured articles, regular columns and news features, as well as book reviews, videos, links to significant corporate White Papers, employment opportunities, and calendar listings of major conferences and events. “We have carried over the regular departments from our printed magazine”, said Randall Larson, 16-year editor of the magazine. “And, while the online format allows instant posting of breaking news, archival of significant stories from past issues – long sold out – *9-1-1MAGAZINE.com* provides, in one place, a wealth of information – past, present, and future – all searchable by topic, department, or keyword. Sponsorships tie vendor advertising to specific content topics, as well as prime placements throughout the portal”. Jim Voelkl, Founding Publisher, and Chairman and President of Official Publications, Inc., said, “It’s been our mission since 1989 to cover the ongoing operational changes and technological advances in 9-1-1 Answering Points, including local jurisdictional dispatch centers and other public-safety communications such as local Emergency Management agencies and the Department of Homeland Security, focusing on management, technology, and operations. As an online portal to access information, resources, and services within the emergency communications community, *9-1-1MAGAZINE.com*will be continue to bring its readers the best news, commentary, and insight and to deliver the best possible marketing value for its sponsors. Having been ranked first among other magazines covering the industry is largely due to Editor Larson, and Associate-editor Dave Larton, having careers within local dispatch centers, tactical dispatch, major-events dispatch such as the *Olympic* Winter Games in Salt Lake City, the World Trade Center terrorist attacks, and serving as trainers for other centers across the U.S.. Their experiences and first-hand knowledge of what the readers need to know, contribute significantly to the value placed on the portal by industry professionals. www.9-1-1magazine.com
