Questions about checking blood sugars

Hi everyone,

I have a couple questions about checking sugars. Actually, its more about a

good place to get blood from, and getting the blood successfully onto the test

strip. The machine that they gave my husband from the doctors is an Accu Check

Compact Plus. It looked easy in the doctor's office when they showed us, but

for some reason, we're not too successful in getting a test because it says that

the blood was applied too soon. I'm not sure what a good place is either, to

get the blood from, because the strip is so small, it's automatically ejected

from the machine just far enough for you to set your finger on there, but I

guess I'm not doing something right, even when I test myself. It doesn't help

because we both have big fingers to. I know this is for him, but I was curious

about testing myself, so I've tried a couple times and haven't been successful.

Any ideas on what to do differently? I don't know if this question can really

bea answered by anyone, maybe I just have to keep experimenting, but then we run

out of test strips, because it kicks out the test strip to throw it away when

you turn off the machine, and the strip has already been used. Hmmm, hoping

this all made some sort of sense? *smiles*
