Guest guest
Congrads on a great surprise vickie  Finger prints " NEVER FADE " , on a person's life that you have touched.  I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than to live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.    ________________________________ To: 911lifeline ; 911console Sent: Tue, July 5, 2011 9:30:15 PM Subject: 911:: What our PBA did for some retirees recently   As I have mentioned previously, at the end of this month it will be 2 years since I retired from dispatching.  I was proud to have set the current record for longevity at our PSAP/PSDP with 34 years, 4 months on the job.  Our police department did present a very nice plaque to me at the meeting of our borough's mayor and council a few months after I exited   Last week our Policemen's Benevolent Association held an awards dinner in honor of the retirement of a 30 year police officer, my cousin,,who left with the rank of Acting Captain who was given a plaque and a NJ State PBA Gold Card (life membership)which can only be given to retired full time officers.  At the same time they honored a Sergeant who retired in 1999 at the mandatory age of 65 but who has continued serving as a school crossing guard as he now has over 50 years service that began as a special patrol officer (annual appointment) in 1960.  Two special officers who have worked special events over 20 years were recognized also.     I was surprised when they called me up to receive a plaque from the PBA and then stunned and humbled more so as they presented a NJ State PBA Silver Card bestowing honorary membership to me, something that they say is rarely done and actually left me speechless at first but did manage to express my gratitude not just for those awards but also for the honor and privilege of working with all of them present and past.  BTW, those cards are made from actual gold and silver, not just the colors of something plastic or cardboard.  For the silver card the application and background checks take a few months I am told similar to what takes place for firearms id cards and hand gun purchasing permits.
