Guest guest
I thought I was doing good having my salad until I realized that carrots aren't listed in the vegitable section of the book and the premixed salad mix I've been eating has carrots in them. Live and Learn I guess. Sue
Guest guest
Carrots do contain more natural sugars than some other veggies, but they certainly aren't as bad as potatoes and corn and winter squash. According to the USDA database, 1 small carrot has 5.07 carbs - that little bit in your salad mix probably won't hurt you. It's one of those YMMV (your mileage may vary) things. Does your salad mix have a carb count on it? Just make sure you are counting things accurately. And make sure that the extra sugars in them don't set off cravings. I do eat carrots from time to time, but the serving size really has to watched. For example, if I eat brocolli, I'll have a 1 cup serving, if I eat carrots, I limit myself to a 1/2 cup.
