Guest guest
Hi, This is the first time I have posted but I have been a member for a while now. Just last Friday I had day surgery to remove a septate uterus with hysteroscope and a flourascope. My RE said everything was looking good. For about five years I've experienced very abnormal menstual periods (once it lasted for two months before anything was done) and not one of the doctors I visited had any idea what was causing this but they didn't seem to care either. We are hoping the septum could also be one of the reasons for this. Once I removed the balloon catheter on Sunday I've had heavy bleeding ever since. My RE knows but for right now nothing much is being done. Has anyone else had heavy bleeding after the removal of a septate uterus? Has anyone else had it be the cause of not only infertility but also heavy and prolonged menstrual periods? Thanks in advance.
Guest guest
Hi , I had my septum removed, but I bled a lot WITH the cath, and when it was out, I stopped right away. I don't think it's normal to bleed that much after SU surgery. One thing I've seen in my own experience is that Vitamin A deficiency can cause heavy, prolonged periods. You could try taking between 5,000-8,000 units of Vit A per day (take the real Vit A, NOT beta caratene). This is a safe dose, even for a prg. woman, and may help you a lot. Good luck, Jill SU resected > Hi, > This is the first time I have posted but I have been a member for a > while now. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! I think an RE would be the best person to consult about this. It will be intersting if your cycles change now that your septum is resected. I was SU, but had very regular cycles, except for during college when I would get them every other week for about 6 mos (ugh). I think it was stress or crazy adolescent hormones. > I removed the balloon catheter on Sunday I've had heavy bleeding ever > since. My RE knows but for right now nothing much is being done. > Has anyone else had heavy bleeding after the removal of a septate > uterus? > I did not have the balloon cath with either of my 2 resections. But I did bleed quite heavily after my first resection for about a week. Did you bleed while the balloon was in? When did you have the surgery done in relation to your cycle? Could you be having your period as well as bleeding from the surgery? I hope the bleeding stops soon for you. Make sure that you call the dr immediately if you feel any pain or fever or any other signs of infection. Again, welcome to the group and I hope we can help you get some answers!
