Guest guest
I took the liberty to write to the WI chapter of the NMSS--here is their response to me. I hope this helps.Maybe this will point you in the right direction...love, KateDear Kate, Thank you for contacting the National MS Society. Weappreciate your email inquiry. Per your request, I investigated the WisconsinChapter’s financial assistance program. This program generally assistswith things including air conditioners, counseling, aquatics/exercise programs, vehicle modifications, home modifications, respite care, durable medicalequipment, emergency rent/utilities, and assistive technology devices. I wouldencourage you to have your friend contact us directly so that we can explore ifthe chapter might be willing to consider her financial assistance request orsee if the chapter is able to consider financial assistance for something thatis eligible for assistance to help your friend free up some money for travelexpenses. However, before exploring financial assistance for travelexpenses, I would encourage your friend (if she has not already done so) tocontact her local police department, Child Protective Services, and/or anattorney due to the legalities involved in this situation. Please find belowcontact information for the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. http://dcf.wisconsin.gov/contact_us.htm(Wisconsin Department of Children and Families Contact Information) We also have community legal services and private attorneyreferrals as well.
