Guest guest
What a beautiful dog! And look how happy he is! Let me ask you, do Bernese drool? I absolutely love big huge dogs, but I can't deal with the " leaky " ones...<G> in WY " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
Bernese are supposed to be a dry mouthed breed. However that said some do have loose flews and drool more than others. They do however shed a ton. They are a double coated breed and well, my first male every other week I would brush out a dillons grocery sack full of fur. And they really blow coat when the weather changes in the spring. We also have a lot of heath problems in the breed. But they are one of the more expressive breeds. You can usually tell what they are thinking by watching their expressive faces. That look on Max's face is commonly called the berner grin. Max is toward the small end of the standard on size. He is not heavly boned . Weighs between 95 and 100 lbs most of the time. And is a total goof ball at times. In my part of the country with the heat and humidity we get in the summer, they are an indoor dog with the air conditoning. Hot spots and heat prostration have to be watched for during hot weather. They don't do well as yard only or kennel dogs, but flourish as house dogs and companions. Guest guest
I've always thought they were beautiful dogs - though we will never have one unless somebody leaves one at the pound, since all our " kids " are rescues of one kind or another... And all are " housedogs " (including the 100-lb German Shepherd/Malamute cross) and all are spoiled rotten, just like they should be! ;-) T in WY " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return...
