Guest guest
Kate I am sorry you are having so many problems. You remain in my prayers. Hugs nne Hi all, I've been trying to stay on top of all the posts. Have been missing some folks however--Peggy, Challis, Bill, Dana, etc. Lately, my biggest difficulty is fatigue. It is suffocatingme practically. It is hard to function some days. The provigil I've been on has not been much helping. There was a med Challis has been on, but I cannot recall the name of it--anyone remember? Recently I have switched neuro's because mine moved further from me and to a larger 'operation' that wasn't as warm and friendly. The new one is helping me deal with the TN pain. I have also began seeing a new psych to help with those type meds and he is going to switch me from effexor xr to wellbutrin--something I have wanted to try for some time, but no one wanted to try me on. So...I am hoping med changes might help with the fatigue, as it is the worst it has ever been , and I cannot seem to shake it. Hope all are well. Guest guest
Hi, Kate: Sorry that you are feeling so fatigued. Unfortunately it is one of the most debilitating symptoms of MS. I believe fatigue is the main reason for people with MS to go on disability. And, while it's easy to say "get some rest," with a family it's just not possible to do. I'm still on the job hunt here. With the current economy, there just aren't a lot of job opportunities. When I get a job, I still plan to get a tattoo of my cat on my leg with the inscription "el gato malo." lol. As a side note, when I watched Obama's speech on TV on Tuesday night, Whisper Cat actually sat next to me and watched, too. And, at the end of the speech she jumped off the couch. So, somehow she sensed the importance of the moment. In the mean time, I'm continuing with college classes. I got my Accounting mid-term back this evening and I scored an A, which is nice. And, it's nice that some people in class think I know what I'm doing and come to me with questions. LOL. Now, if only employers had the same faith in me!Dan U dao_nguu@... Guest guest
Hi, Kate: Oh, my, falling asleep at the wheel? That it just too risky! What will your family do if you are injured? Is there any way to arrange rides for the kids with fellow hockey players or to have a church member help you out?Dan U dao_nguu@... Congrats! Yes, the fatigue is all consuming and tends to be the worst symptom!I have been falling asleep at the wheel, and don't know how to avoid that--I HAVE to drive kids around to hockey practice--some have to go a distance to where they are going. My hub is not around ,as he works long hours, and even on wk-ends. So....is your cat really that bad to put a tattoo on you about it? I had such a giggle about that! That's neat that Whisper paid close attention to the speech! You take care, and thanks for filling us in, and the support you always give. hugs and blessings, Kate fatigue> > > > Hi all, I've been trying to stay on top of all the posts. > Have been missing some folks however--Peggy, Challis, Bill, > Dana, etc. Lately, my biggest difficulty is fatigue. Guest guest
Sharon, I'm sorry to hear about your bout of dry mouth and fatigue. If it's any consolation at all, I'm going through the same thing right now. Actually, for the last 3 weeks. My mouth is so sore from it being dry. My gums are starting to become inflamed and swollen. It's like having pyorrhea(sp). And this fatigue is killing me. I can't sleep at night and then I'm so tired, with no energy during the day. Still can't sleep. I haven 't been taking anything for this. I'm going to make an appt. tomorrow to see about getting some Provagil. I just hope I'll be able to afford the co-payment. I've heard Provagil is very expensive. But, I have to have something. I hope you start feeling better real soon. Lifting you high... Valene The MS mind at work! "I'd go crazy if I lost my mind!" Guest guest
Val:Maybe the doc can give you some samples of Provigil to try. Have you ever tried Ritalin? That worked good for me. My doc gave me samples of Provigil because my insurance never would pay for Provigil-- so that's why I went to Ritalin. Ritalin is really cheap but Provigil is outrageous. Let us know what the doc says about the dry mouth, okay? I have heard chewing Papaya Enzymes tablets helps dry mouth so I want to get some to try.hugsSharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Sharon and Val, I am sorry to hear about the dry mouth. As you know Sharon, I have been on Ritalin for over 2 years for the fatigue. Provagil is too expensive for my insurance company. I take the extended release tabs of Ritalin and they seem to work. Occasionally I struggle with fatigue and my neuron tells me to take a week break from the med and when I go back it seems to work again—go figure? I do have some mouth issues too. I get lots of canker sores and dry mouth. I try to keep gum handy to combat the dry mouth. My daughter has had a terrible case of mono since February and she has tried the 5 our shots. They work for her. We try not to use them too often but she needs them on a busy day at school. Poor thing has lost 25 pounds with mono and had to quit all sports. She also drinks a product called GreenU. My yoga teacher told me about it. It is a natural energy drink and it gives you a little boost. I had been taking Ritalin, then switching off periodically with Provigil. I had to stop both meds completely over a month ago because my severely dry mouth has gotten way worse. My mouth is beyond dry with my tongue getting inflamed and raw from near zero moisture. Doctors can't figure out a cause so I decided it must be from my meds or something. Before stopping the Ritalin/Provigal regimen I had already stopped drinking coffee and tea. Both drinks are dehydrating and I am desperate to ease the dry mouth. Besides, coffee make my stomach hurt. (it sucks to get older....lol) So here I am with MS Fatigue and not able to have coffee/tea and no Ritalin or Provigal! lol Every day I am okay first thing in the morning but by 8 a.m. I am yawning and having a terrible time paying attention/focusing (mentally and visually:). My son finally talked me into trying a Monster Khaos Drink. Since then I have been drinking a half can a day, sometimes a full can. It really is helping. The drawback is the cost and the fact it has artifical sweetener in it. But, is it really worse than taking Ritalin?!? Has anyone here had a similar experience with an energy drink? What about a vitamin equivilent? love to all of you on this Memorial Day..... Sharon This email is a natural hand made product.
