Guest guest
It's pretty wild here, and will get more so after the winter holidays, but thank you for finding us, much as we regret your need of us. This is usually a very active and vocal group-- as vocal as one can be--in print.Love to you, n Rojas, now 71, diagnosed with MS at age 19-- and yes, they were correct! Guest guest
Thank you for the welcome. Forgive me if I'm quiet for awhile as I have a lot on my plate with the holidays. I'm sure you all do as well. A short intro to me... My name is Debi and I'm about to turn 33 in January. I have a 2 beautiful daughters. Meghan is 5 and she knows EVERYTHING... just ask her. My baby is 3 today as a matter of fact! She's our little beauty queen and the jock of the family. They really keep me on my toes... when I can stay on them that is. LOL I was diagnosed on my birthday, January 2007. My initial symptoms were numbness in my hands and feet, dizzyness... then I was getting REALLY confused and started having a really hard time talking (studdering and mumbling). If you know me... I talk A LOOOOOOT! So this was concerning to say the least. The Dr. tried to brush it off as carpel tunnel, stress, anxiety, One Dr. even said that the spasms and cramps in my leg were something I was making up!! Finally... I changed my insurance at work to one where I could self refer to a specialist. So I went to a neurologist my friend's husband suggested. He should know... his name is Glen Holt and he's Annette Funichello's husband. So I saw him... got an MRI that showed leasions mostly on my spine. Soooo... I got reallllly depressed and spent most of '07 in a funk. New Years Eve I started reading up on the MS Society's site about the walks they do. I thought that would be nice to become apart of. BUT... what about this 150 mile BikeMS ride?? Hmmmm I made my new years resolution to complete the MS ride... and on September 14, 2008... weighing 250 pounds and only 5'2 " ... I crossed the finish line. I raised over $2000 and to this day it's the most amazing thing I've ever done!! I immediately signed up for next year and invite anyone who wants to join me to please do! I cant wait to get to know you all more. Guest guest
Welcome aboard, Debi! I remember Annette Funicello! I am glad that you have her neurologist, sorry as I am to learn that you do indeed have MS-- or as my children dubbed it, "Multiple Surprises," or as I call it, "all MSed up." I hope you will enjoy the friends whom you will encounter here, and I do hope that the stuttering has gone. Most of us are all too familiar with that numbness. My friend, Edna, who has MS, too, re fers to the numbness in her feet as "sand in the shoes." Please do just join in as the mood moves you. Thank you for finding us. Love to you and to that bright three-year-old of yours and to all your family, n, 71, wMS, diagnosed at age 19 -------------- Original message -------------- Thank you for the welcome.
