Guest guest
Hello Jadee and Welcome!!! Yahoo seems to be having problems and causing problems with the loading of the web site onto our personal computers. I was able to get the pages to reload after hitting " Refresh " a couple of times on the browser. Unfortunatley, I am not the person to pass on advice for people with hyper symptoms...I have Hashimoto's. Depending upon your course of treatment, we have many people here who will be able to help you understand what is happening to your body. A couple great places to go and read from front to back are: www.thryophoenix.com and thyroid.about.com Both of these sites contain great information. I am sure that others will jump on as the days go by and will ask you tons of questions in order to gain a picture of what you are feeling and experiencing. Good Luck! We are here for each other... Guest guest
Donna, Thanks for the response. I was diagnosed almost three years ago with being just slightly Hypo and prescribed Synthroid which I never took and then 6 months later I was severly Hyper and I have been fighting with being slightly Hyper for two years now and recently I have got alot worse. I have lost like 40+ pounds in the past two years and in the past two months I just keep loosing. I am not really complaining about the weight lose though...it is nice to be able to eat whatever you want and still lose 5-6 pounds a day. The doctor told me that I have Hashimoto's, but I am not really sure what that means. I have been seeing an Endocrinologist on and off for the past year and I recently gave blood and they called to tell me that I had to get in right away this coming Thursday and I am really nervous about what they are going to do with me. I have tried to live like this without any medications or tests, except blood work as I am scared to death to do the iodine uptake and scan thing....have you ever had that done? I am one who doesn't even like to take aspirin if I am hurting. Some days I feel like I am dying or that I am not quite sure what is going on inside of me. I know that I am not well as I am still loosing weight and I am having trouble concentrating and my heart races so bad at times that I get freaked out about it and I shake alot and don't sleep much....did or do you ever wonder what is wrong with you?? I guess the best way for me to describe it is that I feel outside my body at times and kinda weird..like a zombie and I get really anxious and panic alot for no reason. I have just been trying to live with it but it is effecting my job and other areas of my life. I am a Chef and I usually put in 60-70 hours a week and I have been so tired and achy and my muscles seem so weak that my local doctor took me off work for a couple of days until I can get back into the specialist on Thursday. Does any of this sound familiar?? I am not sure what age group Thyroid problems occur either...I am 32 and also have not been able to have kids yet and have been trying for 7 years. Sorry for being so long winded...I never knew there was such a thing as support groups for this type of thing and I just want to know if I am going crazy or if I can make it thru all of this stuff. Thanks again for your response. > Hi Jadee, > > I am new to the group, also. Guest guest
Hi Jadee, Welcome to the thyroid learning group just be ready to learn as there are girls here that have had hyper, hashimoto's, graves, hypo. My understanding re: hashi is that you go into hyper then to hypo and the swings are what make things so bad. Gossimer and have it and will be an excellent source of info for you. [topper] has had the hyper and her story is on the www.thyrophoenix.com along with other good stuff. The main thing that you need to do is to try and relax. lol !!! Not done too easily I know but it sounds like you have run yourself right into the ground with such long hours, so rest as much as you can while you have the chance and read all you can. There is another site that is very good too www.aboutthyroid.com I think that is the way it goes, if not then go to www.about.com and go to the thyroid section. Sorry I can't help too much with your hashi's but I am hypo so I can only really talk about that. As for getting pregnant, been there, done that. I had 2 miss's in the first 6 months of marriage and then nothing even when taking fertility drugs. Then low and behold after being married 12 years comes a gorgeous baby girl and 14 months later a fabulous boy. So DO NOT give up. Keep checking your mail as the girls will be getting back to you soon with some good stuff for you. You take care and try to relax and let your body rest. I know it's not easy to do. I am not able to access anything on this site for some reason. I am looking for others who have hyperthyroid problems and I was hoping to see if you are or have experienced the same things as I have. Guest guest
Dawn, I think you will hear from almost everyone here that they have had that "out-of-body" feeling and just feel like you aren't well and can't really explain why. I am not the best to respond to Hashimotos, but there are some here that have that and they will address your concerns as soon as they can. You hang in there...I know you will get answers and help here. Donna Re: new member Donna,Thanks for the response. Guest guest
It depends a lot on your bone structure. I'm 5'10 and big boned. At 180 my bones are sticking out and I'm sickly. When I was hyper I had held 277 for over three years with a body fat of 21%, when the storm hit I dropped forty pounds in thirty days... by the time they nuked me and I started going hypo.. I bottomed out at 220 but it was not a healthy 220. I had lost a lot of muscle, the fat had been burned up quickly then my system went to the meat and organs. I have no idea where I'd have been had I not had access to all the junk from work. I was having a LOT of trouble affording to feed myself, I did a lot of all you can eat stuff. I had a circuit that I did, trying not to hit the same place more than twice a week, some of the managers just cringed when I walked in the door. Godfathers lunch buffet was one of them.... three large pizzas, plus two dessert pizzas, plus drinks.... all taken at two slices at a time... .... sigh... brings back the scary times... eating non stop and feeling like I was starving to death..... Anyway, be aware of your nutrition. Lots of nutrient rich foods, PLENTY of protein, while this gets sorted out. I don't think I am a heavier person..but, maybe I am...I am 5'11 and I am going between 145-147 at this point in time. Everyone around me that has known me for years keeps commenting on how much weight I am loosing. My husband told me today when I was laying on the bed and he could see my ribs that I need to do something as I keep loosing weight. I'm seeing how even when I think I'm not dieting, I still have the diet mentality, and I see how difficult it makes everything, and how self-destructive it is.So I've got a lot to learn, and I thought this group would be a great place for some support! Guest guest
Welcome Sherry I'm 57 and would like to say to you that IE isn't just about eating, its also about using eating/weight as a rational for waiting. I hope that as you get to applying IE to your eating that you also find that you release your 'hold' on your life as well. Jump right in with any question, comments and even rants are acceptable here. Best to you - Katcha > > I just joined. Guest guest
I have just joined this online group and it will be my first online support group. I just read Intuitive Eating by Tribole and Resch which REALLY hit home. I am 36 years old and have struggled for at least 20 years with my eating. I have had short periods of time where it has lessened but in general it is the one thing I can count on being in my life. I often have felt that I have used my eating and " compulsive eating/bingeing " as a crutch- and a way to avoid many of the real issues in my life. If I could spend a fraction of the energy on my dreams, family and positive growth as I have on losing, controlling, and dieting food.. my life would look very different. I now have two small children and really do not want to miss being present in there lives because I am stuck bingeing. I also want to be a good role model for my daughter one day. I am not terribly overweight but know that I am not the weight my body would be if I honor its needs instead of BINGE eating almost every night. I seem to have the most diffcultity at night and in social setting especially after the first bite... it is almost like i disconnect from myself... I live in North Carolina and am hopefully that I can learn to be a intuitive eater. Can anyone relate? Thanks

I gave away all250 of my diet books as I am sick of dieting!!!! For the past 13 1/2years I have been obsessive about trying to find just the right diet. Our grandson came to live with us when he was 9 months old becausehis parents could not care for him. All four of our children weregrown and out of the house. I quit work to stay home and provide agood life to our grandson. Throughout the years of him growing up, Imanaged to put on 30 lbs by eating all kinds of food I didn't usuallyeat and eating them in LARGE quanities.I have been using my grandson as an excuse for not losing weight forall these years. I have decided it is time for me to stop. I reallythink dieting has contributed to helping me gain all this weight. Itis important to me that I regain my healthy attitude towards food so Ican lose the extra weight. I am hoping the support group will give methe help I need to stick to this healthy approach to solving my foodissues. Thanks for letting me be part of the group,Anne B------------------------------------
