Guest guest
I was just reading Aimee's post to Barry. Aimee, which blood test did you use? Did you or your ped. specify which foods to test for or is there a " catch all " test that looks for allergic reactions to a range of foods? Also, it seems I remember reading somewhere that blood allergy testing is not 100% accurate - that you have to verify accuracy by eliminating the product, reintroducing, and then seeing whether or not there truly is a reaction. If anyone could weigh in with their experiences here it would be so helpful. Thanks, Dolores
Guest guest
Regarding the blood test. I used the Food Allergy Panel from Great Smokies. I did not specify which foods, I just know they tested for a bunch. It tests for Ige and Igg levels. Ige allergies are ones you have to avoid for life and Igg are delayed response allergies and all of 's Igg allergies were 1+ so we'll take a rest and rotate them back in and see if there's a reaction. She only got a 1+ for casein but she has a pretty severe reaction and usually needs an albuterol treatment after consuming it, but she had a 2+ Ige reaction to egg whites and I've never been able to log a specific reaction to that!! However, since removing them I haven't seen the really red face and ears that she kept every day of her life. Her behavior has improved greatly. We just had the testing done so we haven't begun adding foods back in yet. Hopefully some of them won't be too bad. Hope this helps.
