Hi,

First, I'd like to say thanks for all the great responses I get from this list.

I am constantly learning new things.

We have a rather rare situation: We had been giving my son digestive enzymes

from Houston Pharmaceuticals then we found out he has ulcers in his stomach (he

had this condition before giving the enzymes but it went undiagnosed) We

discontinued using the enzymes to allow his ulcer to heal. Our

gastroenterologist said he should never take enzymes. Of course, he is not

familiar with the gfcf diet or how it has helped many children.

My question is: Is it safe to resume using enzymes after his ulcer heals, will

the enzymes reopen his ulcers(scar tissue)? I'm wondering if we should avoid

them altogether or try to go back to them?

Thanks, Kathy

Hi, Kathy;

Enzymes should be OK if the ulcer is healed, you may want to avoid

the high-protease enzymes still, just to be on the safe side.
