Recommitting to Intuitive Eating

Hi everyone,

I just posted this on my blog and wanted to share it with all of you as well:

It's been a very rough week, an emotional roller-coaster for sure. After 5 weeks

of

intuitive eating, I stepped on the scale and saw I had gained 7 pounds. I truly

thought I

was down a pound or two. I was devastated. I felt humiliated and defeated - YET

AGAIN.

My first thought was to say I MUST resume my weekly weigh-ins and go back to

trying to

balance my carbs and protein and avoid white flour and sugar. At least I know I

can

maintain my weight that way. (I have done so for the past year. Of course, I was

trying to

LOSE weight that whole time.)

After two days of living with diet mentality, I cannot WAIT to return to the

world of

intuitive eating. I was amazed at how awful life seemed living with diet

mentality after

being free from it for 5 weeks. How soon we forget! I felt a constant, pervasive

anxiety that

seemed to separate me from my own body and mind. I couldn't feel my feelings, I

couldn't

tell what I wanted to eat or tell when I was hungry or full. I just wanted to

eat constantly,

to shovel food down my throat. I had to fight a constant desire to binge. I felt

like I was

going crazy. Before I discovered intuitive eating and the peace and serenity and

sanity that

came with it, this was how I lived my entire life. I thought it was " normal " .

But two days of

" normal " , and I knew I could never go back to that way of life again.

So I am recommitting to Intuitive Eating. I will not step on the scale for at

least the next 6

months. Yes, it is a terrifying prospect to think of gaining more weight when

you weigh

311 pounds. But I have a loving husband who is very supportive of my intuitive

eating

because he can see how much happier I am when I live this way. And I wear a 3X

but I

know where I can find 4X and 5X clothes if I have to. And I have a cane I can

use if my

mobility issues get any worse.

So if I gain weight, I gain weight. Whatever the consequences, they will be

better than

going back to the Hell on earth that comes with diet mentality. I can not and

WILL not live

that way anymore.

B.
