Guest guest
Sub: Selection Criteria of GIPA Coordinator in SACS Re: /message/9203 The implementation of GIPA in the NACPIII has given a lot of hope for People Living with HIV/AIDS in India to involve themselves at all levels from the village level to the national levels and from the program implementation to the policy level. At present, the SACS has started appointing GIPA coordinator and the PLHA networks need clarity in the selection criteria, process and the role of the GIPA coordinator. The SACS has created the criteria of selecting the GIPA coordinator, who has no association with any PLHA networks in the state. How SACS has created a criteria which is against the freedom of association that is a violation of human rights. Do SACS have criteria for Doctor/Charted accountants/Lawyers stating that, they cannot be a member of their associations or bar council?. We don’t understand why SACS is very critical about the appointment of GIPA coordinator, that the person should not be associated with the PLHA networks. INP+ has shared the selection criteria with NACO, and the criteria are given below for reference; PLHIV with Open Status. Educated PLHIV able to analyze the local issues pertaining to epidemic/preference will be given to Legal/Medical and Educational field representatives. Below 10th class with 7years experience 10th pass with 5years experience 10th +2 with 3 years experience Graduate with 1½ year experience Post graduate - 1 month experience We request NACO to look in to these aspects to select the GIPA coordinator with requirements suggested, So that the GIPA coordinator will be a person who will be able to understand the needs and requirements of the community.
