Dear Forum Members,

Re: /message/9206

Few mails before this posting one of the news item that grabbed everyones

attention has been about KSACS's move to reserve a position for a positive

person - which was well recieved with appreciations.

Then comes this  annoucement for the position of GIPA Coordinator.

Though the application says that only people living with HIV need apply, I am

surprised to see the clause that he or she 'Shall not be a member of any

network'  being part of this announcement.

I wonder if that clause is necessary? The attempt of having a GIPA Coordinator

seems to be towards creating the space for a person living with HIV so that

their experience can be brought into the programs of KSACS.

For the same reason  this clause is limiting the possible choice of people who

would be applying for the position. It is the right of a person to be associated

with network of people living with HIV or any other organisation (as far as it

is not anti social).

In this light should one be denied a position just because of his or her

association with particular network of people living with HIV or for that matter

any network

Involving people is about truly empowering positive people to be part of the

system providing inputs coming from their live's experience of having lived

with HIV - even the experience of being part of large, small, medium , heard

of, unheard of networks should be counted as shaping their experience.

These networks have played a very important role in brining visibility to the

epidemic in India and in Kerala.

Thanks and Regards
