Guest guest
Hi Vicky; did you recieve my excert re dealing with emotions? Ken B I know there's a lot of christ's freedom offered to those that need dtreatment. Ken b in c Christ. qyestuib about sun Well, I've noticed the last couple of years that I don't take the sun as well as I used to. I use sunscreen and all of that and do get burned sometimes, which I never did. But also I get unusually tired after even a couple of hours out in the sun. I thought I had seen something on the internet about sun and diabetes but can't find it now anywhere. Is there an association between diabetes and the sun?? Guest guest
W@o, I messed up the subject line, and well Ken, Let's take this thing off list, as what you are talking about isn't really part of blind-diabetics. you can write me at pyle@..., I'm still there. And I meant to say " question about sun " so sorry about that, everyone. Guest guest
Ruth is right Vicky. Heat can generally either lower-or raise your BG-depending on where you are when you experience the extreme heat. I always run lower BGs in the summer and carry around extra glucose tabs if I know I am going to have to be in the sun for any length of time. I really cannot stand sitting at the beach anymore because of that. qyestuib about sun Well, I've noticed the last couple of years that I don't take the sun as well as I used to. Guest guest
That's a bummer, as I live right near the ocean, though later afternoons are nice if I can get there then. Listen, I'm assuming you get glucose tabs at a drugstore over-the-counter, am I right, and can I substitude lifesavers or other candy for them? Guest guest
Yes to both questions! The glucose tabs come in several different packages. I get the ones that ocme with 10 in a tube and then I refill the tubes as needed. The Life Savers get too moldy after a while and sticky. But they do work.
