Guest guest
Hi group. I wanted to thank Bruce, Trista, Sharon, Tammy, n, Cassy, and all you many others that voiced in on this topic. I am scared I'm going to crash my car one of these days, so I'm thinking I should either arrange for kids to get rides and/or get on something; some med to help with the fatigue. Just when I thought my day was coming to a close, my 16 yr old, who doesn't have her permit yet, called for me to pick her up from school and bring her down about 20 minutes away for an interview. This is my dtr who won the art contest and they were interviewing the 1st, 2nd (her) and 3rd place winners. So, I dropped her off, feeling real tired on the way. Then I zipped back up north to pick up my 8 yr old who didn't want to take the bus home today (I should have told him, tough!), but I didn't ...As soon as I got home with him, the 16 yr old called ready to be picked back up!!! I am so sorry to vent like this, but driving is such an every day part of my life, I don't know how one functions without it. I'm afraid I'm going to have to find out, and soon! How do I explain to my kids; how do I get them from place to place? MS really stinks, and infiltrates into so many aspects of our lives. Now I should be cleaning up from dinner, but I'm so beat. love to you all, kate

Guest guest
Kate if you feel like you are going to have a crash, then do not drive. Enlist the help of others or get the kids to make their own arrangements somehow. I don't know where you live but if there's buses, make them take them. I live in an area where we do have buses but it's a long long walk for myself to get to the bustop, I depend on a vehicle, but hubby takes me everywhere I need right now which is a godsend. I was told the other day if you are tired do NOT fight it, and if your mind is telling you not to drive, then please don't, that's when accidents happen, and like you say MS stinks as it is, so don't injure yourself and possibly others on top. Sorry if I sound like I am scolding, I'm truly not, just have had lots of friends in accidents where they felt they shouldn't have driven that day Connie > Hi group. Guest guest
Kate, have you checked with the school bus system? I don't know about other towns, but in my town now you can get school students picked up in town, in front of the house. When I was a kid the school buses were only for those that lived in the country. I think things have changed because of the growing number of households with both parents working . And the other issue that has come up is child safety issues. In this day and age it just isn't safe to let small children walk very far to school. It just might be worth while to call the school bus barn and ask questions. I'd talk to the person in charge of busing rather than the school itself. Also mention that you have MS and are having increasing problems driving.
