CONVENTION of the NATIONAL FEDERATION of the BLIND of FLORIDA IN

JACKSONVILLE, FL

SUNDAY, MAY 24

“Cooking Without Looking†the first TV show for Blind/Visually Impaired

people, will present two workshops Sunday at noon with the blind kids and at 2

p.m. with the blind teens during the FL Parents of Blind Children portion of

the convention

Preston, one of the hosts of “Cooking Without Looking,†the first TV

show for people who are blind/visually impaired, is coming to ville,

FL for the State Convention of the National Federation of the Blind of

Florida. He will present two cooking workshops where blind/visually impaired

young people get to prepare their own culinary creations.

Preston, who himself has been blind since he was very young, often says that

“God gave me the ability to see the world in a very special way.â€

“We’re all very excited to appear at the FL Parents of Blind Children

“Cooking Without Looking†is hosted by Celia Chacon, Preston and

Annette Watkins who are all blind/visually impaired.

On each show, a blind/visually impaired guest “chef†creates their favorite

dish while demonstrating cooking techniques to help visually challenged

people have fun and stay safe in the kitchen. A third segment, “Food for

Thought

†introduces audience members to people who provide services to the visually

impaired.

Nova Southeastern School of Optometry, the Florida Division of Blind

Services, and the NFB Newsline underwrite the show.

“Cooking Without Looking†is going into its third season on WXEL-TV42 PBS

in South Florida,
