Guest guest
Ever since I hit 40 I notice huge changes in my body. Changes in my monthly cycle (sometimes light, somethimes heavy) and more cramping. I have a fibroid tumor that I have to go in for a sugical consult. I now have high blood pressure. My feet bother me. Caffeine affects me differently and if I drink it too late in the day I can't sleep. I'm getting more gray hair. My skin is dryer and I need more moisturizer and lotion. I think IE is not just about food related issues but so much about accepting where our bodies are and learning to listen to our bodies overall. Not just listening to our hunger/satisfaction levels, but listening to our bodies if we are hurting, or our body temperatures or wether our body might need more rest, or maybe medical attention. It's just so much more than just about food. And it's learning to be gentle to our bodies and learning to treat it well and not being mad at it as we age (or battle the bulge). Our society isn't only fat phobic but age phobic as well. There is this urgency to stay as young as possible. To not develop wrinkles or gray hair. I think I don't battle the diet mentaality so much anymore as I do the anti-aging mentality. I keep hearing Gillian in my head saying " your thoughts drive your actions " or something to that affect. So I find myself paying attention to my thoughts around aging. The other day I made a comment to my friend how ever since I turned 40 I feel like things are quickly moving down hill and the 40's are hell and I would go back to being 30 in a heartbeat. How negative is that! Don't know where I'm going with this, just felt the need to put down some thoughts. Would love to hear other folks comments on this and maybe even a comment for one of our males out there on the aging topic. It seems to me like men don't seem to be so concerned with the aging issues as women but maybe that is a really sexist comment. Thanks, Alana > > > > Hi!
