Subject: breast bud in nine year old boy!

Comment: I am very concerned for my autistic son who just turned nine last

month. I

noticed over the weekend he has a breast bud on the left breast. I about

had a heart attack. We are doing the DAN protocol, except for chelating.

Chelation causes huge yeast issues. My DAN doc does not seem to be too

concerned. But, I am. I feel we should be addressing this somehow. He is

way too young to going through puberty right now. Isn't there something we

should be doing about this????? Trina

Response: YES, you should be concerned and there are many things you can do.

Most doctors are NOT aware of the estrogenic xenohormones in our environment and

the negative effects these have on develoing children. You need to eat organic

meat (estrogenic hormones are added to cattle to fatten them up, etc.), organic

fruits & vegetables (pesticides & herbicides are all estrogenic), avoid MILK

(which naturally has lots of estrogen but if your son cannot live w/o get

organic milk/cheese that doesn't have added hormones), avoid SOY (estrogenic),

avoid sugar & starchy foods that stimulate estrogen (fat cells produce estrogen

in men and women). Avoid chlorinated water (chlorine byproducts are

estrogenic), get chlorine free cleaning supplies, fluoride free toothpaste, etc.

Your son's thyroid should be checked by taking is basal temperature. Thyroid

helps to balance estrogen. Is your son taking any drugs? Many drugs have

hormonal effects (Depakote, Risperdal, SRRI's, Olanzapine, etc). Is your son

overweight?

Dr. R. Lee's book (What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PreMenopause,

etc.) all discuss this. Estrogen dominance is a term coined by R. Lee, MD

in his groundbreaking book. It describes a condition where an individual can

have deficient, normal, or excessive estrogen but does not have sufficient

progesterone to balance the levels of estrogen and xenohormes in the body.

Because there are so many xenohormes in our environment, it's possible that we -

men, women and children are all suffering a little from estrogen dominance.

" You would have to virtually live in a bubble to escape the excess estrogens we

are exposed to through pesticides, plastics, industrial waste products, car

exhaust, meat, soaps, and much of the carpeting, furniture and paneling that we

live with indoors every day. "

You might want to read the book OUR STOLEN FUTURE by Theo Colborn and

Myers, two leading environmentalists and Dianne Dumanoski, an

environmental journalist, which lists the compelling effects of chemical

contamination revealed from wildlife studies, laboratory experiments and human

data. Synthetic chemicals are now linked to reproductive problems: a low sperm

count (the male sperm count has plummeted by 50% since 1940 worldwide),

infertility, genital and urethra abnormalities, the feminization of males, the

masculization of females and hormonally triggered human diseases such as breast

and prostrate cancer. Other symptoms include neurological and developmental

disorders in children, the abnormal functioning of the thyroid, endocrine and

immune system and mental and emotional development. Other books on this

Endocrine Hypothesis by Sheldon Krimsky (Paperback)
