Guest guest
I've been reading a lot of posts here discussing self acceptance. I see many people who say they simply cannot accept themselves at the weight that they are. I understand that. I am at a weight that I think I can learn to accept if that is what my body wants to be. But that isn't really how I see self-acceptance. Self acceptance to me means, loving my body enough to treat it well, give it what it needs and not abuse it. Doing what I have to do to make my body healthy and comfortable and not let numbers on a scale sabatage my efforts. It means accepting that healthy for my body might not be a weight that thrills me. It basically means replacing " health " for " weight " as a goal. For some people. health might require losing weight, but my guess is that it is fewer people then many believe. For some, health might actually mean gaining weight. I believe that if I aim for health, weight will take care of itself one way or another. Finally, it means finding a way of living and enjoying my life regardless of that scale number so that it loses its power over me.
