Guest guest
Julzz, I have heard that once they stop nursing during the night, they usually return fairly quickly. That has been the case with both my daughters. My first slept through the night at 12 weeks and my period returned 2 months later. #2 daughter slept thru night at 9 weeks and periods returned at 5 1/2 months. ??? I don't know if that is the case for everyone, but that's what I have heard. Actually I read it on the Breastfeeding board at Parentsplace. Have you been there? There are some great ladies there with all kinds of helpful advice. Leisa That time of month >From: Julz@... > >My 11 month old is breastfed plus 2-3 snacks a day. I havent got my perios >back yet. Guest guest
Well Leisa ... I guess I will find out soon. stopped nursing through the night one week ago. She slept almost the whole night thru last night (went to bed at 9 woke at 3 a.m. for 5 minutes and slept till 8 a.m.).... she didn't nurse though. She really doesn't even want to nurse as a pacifier anymore. I guess that's how I knew she was ready to sleep on her own and through the night with our help. But I am not NOT looking forward to that time of the month! YUCK!! Guest guest
Oh, and on that. Karissa has slept through the night since she was 4 wks old and I still do not have my period. She slept 6 hrs at night from birth. She does still nurse a LOT during the day though. - can I just keep nursing for the rest of my life so I never have to deal with THAT again???? Guest guest
The only time I didn't have a period was when I was pregnant. After I had Ciara I went right back to normal.
Guest guest
Julzz, I have a (almost) 15 month old son who still nurses anywhere from 2 - 5 times per day and a couple of short times at night. I have yet to start menstruating. My son eats many solids. I think he just nurses for comfort at this time, which is fine with me. I have been feeling crampy lately though. I think my time is just about up being period-free! It truly does vary with people though. I have friends who exclusively bf and started within 5 months post partum. I guess it's one of life's little mysteries! - Jake 3-11-94 & Clay 10-22-

Amy >> UGH, mine started at 4 1/2 months post partum. It was 2 weeks after I returned to work, and boy was it a doozy! My cycle has been VERY heavy ever since then, and my midwife suspects it will worsen after Kylie weans. We're talking HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY for at least 7 days (( I tried the mini pill for 10 days, turned into psycho mom from hell. I finally went on a super-low dose combination pill called Alesse, and so far my milk supply seems OK. I will definitely stop taking it in a heartbeat if Kylie even acts like she is weaning due to a lack of milk. When I first started menstruating, my periods were very heavy. I've either been pregnant or on the pill for the past 10 years, so I guess this is what my body should be like - and I don't like it one bit!!! I don't like the idea of taking hormones for the rest of my life, but I really get sick every month. It's sort of a catch 22. My girlfriend has so many problems she's considering getting her endometrium removed = Less dramatic than a hysterectomy, but it still renders you incapable of having any more children There is at least one week a month that I wish I were a man - but the other times I wouldn't trade being a woman for anything & Kylie, still nursing at 18 months! Guest guest
This frightens me. Let me ask you a couple questions. Is it constant spotting? Like day after day, weeks at a time? Do you have pain on one side more than the other? If you push on your right ovary area or left does it cause profound pain? Could you be pregnant again? I have had to tubular pregnancies. These were some of the symptoms. I don't want to cause you fear. But eptopic pregancies are serious. S. Mom to 5. Guest guest
Okay, calm, calm. I was just worried. I have major fears about ectopic pregnancies. I know what you mean about getting skinny again. I'd love to be 124 pds again. Oh well! S. Guest guest
<<The classic answer is: you have a period because you have ovulated. Ovulation occurs before the first period. >> I guess I'm not very classic then!!! My twins were 10 months old, nursing, when Nick was conceived and i hadn't had a period. Nick was 9 months old when Jake was conceived....no period. I went in for my scheduled delivery with Jake and the nurse filling out some info sheet asked me for my LMP. I said....4-28-93, Jake was delivered 2-7-97, imagine the look of surprise on her face. The next question is always... Guest guest
I'm discovering that "that time of month" is really messing me up. I was doing great until that hit. It's not the cravings that get me, it's the fact that I feel bloated and nasty. I can't get that 'slim and trim' feeling that I like. I feel so bloated and fat that I end up overeating because I *start out* feeling stuffed. I have a much, much harder time with the 'hungry' and 'full' signals. Any one else notice this? Any suggestions on how to handle it?
