Guest guest
** Please review, contact your member of Congress asking for support and forward this to everyone you know **************************************************** * * *Support the Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act of 2011* On April 14, Congressmen Jim Gerlach (R-PA) and Xavier Becerra (D-CA) in the House of Representatives and Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and (R-ME) introduced “The Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act (H.R. 1546/S. 829).” This legislation will repeal the cap on therapy services for Medicare beneficiaries once and for all. If Congress does not take action by December 31, 2011, a hard therapy cap will again be imposed on Medicare-covered physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology services. We need to take action *NOW* to ensure the cap does not go back into place. *What You Can Do* · Please contact your members of Congress by clicking the " Take Action " button in APTA’s Legislative Action Center ( http://www.apta.org/TakeAction) or call your Members of Congress (202/224-3121) and tell them to cosponsor legislation to repeal the therapy cap (H.R. 1546/S. 829) once and for all. · *Please remember to* *PERSONALIZE any correspondence to your members of Congress*. Before sending the advocacy letter provided to you, take a moment to personalize your message by writing a brief paragraph about the importance of physical therapy in your community and how your patients would be harmed by a hard therapy cap. · Plan to attend APTA’s PT Day on Capitol Hill<http://www.apta.org/capitolhillday>June 8-9. This is the premier legislative conference at APTA and a great chance to build your skills as an advocate, network with PT leaders, and directly lobby Congress on H.R. 1546 and S. 829.
