Do I need new provider numbers?

I'm starting my practice in a few months. Currently I have provider numbers for

Medicare, BCBS, etc through my employer. They did all the leg work when I

signed on and bill for my PT services under those. What I'm wondering is should

I go to them to get those numbers back when the time comes, or should I just

re-apply? Do they have the right to say 'no' since they did the work to apply

and covered whatever costs were incurred?
