From Larry Benz

1000 Awesome Things about Physical Therapy

If you haven't had a chance to watch any TED talks in the last few years, I

would highly recommend that you put it on your New Year's Resolution list.

The growth in the TED brand via their TEDx conferences as well as the

annual TED conference has just been incredible. A few month's back, one of

my favorite author's Anya

Kamenetz<http://www.fastcompany.com/user/anya-kamenetz>wrote this

great article about it in Fast

Company<http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/148/how-ted-became-the-new-harvard.h\

tml>(strongly

recommend her book DIY

U: Edupunks, Edupreneurs and the Coming Transformation of Higher

Education<http://www.amazon.com/DIY-Edupunks-Edupreneurs-Transformation-Educatio\

n/dp/1603582347>).

I will be attending my 4th TED conference this year and it always a

stimulating experience to say the least. Don't worry if you can't attend

the conference as TED's commitment to transparency and sharing always

results in publishing the talks from the conference!

This week they released a great talk by Neil

Pasricha<http://www.ted.com/speakers/neil_pasricha.html>who authors a

blog entitled 1000

Awesome Things <http://1000awesomethings.com/> as well as an international

best seller called The Book of Awesome.

<http://1000awesomethings.com/book/>He provides the history and

impetus behind this movement in this talk.

How about we do something similar? The first effort would be to document

1,000 Awesome Things about Physical Therapy (perhaps followed by 1,000

Awesome Things about Physical Therapists). Just submit in comments or in

email and we will make an attempt to put them on this blog. The beauty of

this assignment though is that instead of using our " PT bias " why don't we

ask our own patients? Could be fun and interesting.

Who wants to go first?
