Guest guest
Hi Ed.... When the doctor first puts you on Prednisone, it's to bring down the high CPK's and gets your labs in the normal range. After that they will start to decrease the dose a little at a time. The muscle inflammation should be under control by then. If you keep flaring or they can't get your labs in the normal range, than they will put you on an immunosuppressant to get your immune system down. This helps with being able lowering the prednisone level. Prednisone is a great drug for short term use...but, it's when you take high doses for long periods of time that you run into problems. Does this help? Vicki
