Guest guest
Maureen - We have a 45 minute staff meeting every month and all staff are expected to attend, however, we also have part-time staff who are not always available. We type detailed minutes of the meeting in the " pillars " format (Service Excellence, Clinical Excellence, People, Growth, Finance) and these minutes are emailed to every staff member and a hard-copy is placed in a binder located in the staff offices. We have an accountability in the Professional Growth section of the annual performance appraisal that addresses " Takes responsibility for content presented at all staff meetings and applies information to daily activities as directed. " Staff understand the expectation that they are responsible for knowing and applying staff meeting information whether they are present at the meeting or not. This eliminates the cop-out response - " I wasn't at the staff meeting so I didn't know................. I struggle with this due to many part-time staff. It seems that we don’t have them often enough because not everyone is ever in the office together. How do you deal with this hurdle? Guest guest
Our staff meetings are monthly and only about 30% of the staff attend as we have many part time and on call staff (this meeting includes PT, OT and Speech Therapists for acute care and our inpatient rehab unit). This past year I started a buddy system where each person who regularly attends the meeting has 1-2 “buddies†to contact before and after the meetings to go over the agenda, get input and then provide information about the meeting, decisions made etc. There are written minutes as well but I find the 1:1, whether by phone or in person has helped those who cannot attend, feel a more part of the dept/work place. Some staff are great about it and others forget..but it is a work in progress.
