Guest guest
I am a huge fan of self assessments. I think they are a great manager's tool to start a discussion about meaningful topics with staff that can actually lead to improvement. They are good for deflecting defensiveness and allow self-reflection as a starting point for learning and change. In the past, I have created and made available to the PTManager community self assessments on: - *Productivity* (available on the PTManagerBlog<http://www.ptmanager.posterous.com/> ), - *Readiness to Own Your Own Practice* (available at InHomeRehab.com), - *Basic Business Skills* (coming soon to PTManagerBlog<http://www.PTManager.Posterous.com>). Recently, I have been doing a bit of reading, study and work on the changes that are required as we move to a clinical environment that has a much *larger involvement financial commitment by patients *to therapy. Whether this is in the cash-based world or occurs because of large deductibles and co-pays, the result is the same - patients must see the value in our services - the earlier the better. One small, but important, component of recognizing this value is in how we make our initial clinical impressions. To assess the strength and identify areas in which we can improve in this area, I have created a new PTManager tool: *Clinical First Impressions: A Self- Assessment Tool.* It is now available for FREE (as always) either below on for download at PTManagerBlog <http://www.ptmanager.posterous.com/> .. As always, your comments, feedback and suggestions for improvement are welcome. Kovacek, PT, DPT, MSA #end PKovacek@...
