Its hardly surprising that children swear, these days. I was in Boots yesterday buying a birthday card for DH, fortunately without children, and two lads, about 15 or so were looking at the cards and every other word was the F word. I'm sure they didn't even know they were doing it. I don't believe I am particularly prudish but I think it sounds very ugly to hear it in the street like that. Guest guest
I agree that it sounds dreadfully ugly and ignorant. Surely there are better words in the English vocabulary. I have to confess that I almost laughed when Zachary said it, simply because it sounded so odd coming out of the mouth of a 4 year old. Neither Tim nor I use the word so we know he must have heard it somewhere else, and I suspect that it was probably in the playground at Luke's school. Several years ago, we were all in the car, when Luke suddenly said, " Say buddy helf " . Tim and I were quite shocked as we have both been known to say " B****y hell " and from then on resolved to say it under our breaths if we had to say it at all. Needless to say, we each blamed the other! Alison Sorry, Alison, but ROFLMAO!! As to what to do, I think the only option is to tell him you don't want him to say it but otherwise ignore it.
