Okay, well, here's a request from one of the moderators. Most of us aren't on

digest, so the long trail of messages don't present problems. Let's all try,

including yours truly, to trim the unnecessary trailers to help out those who

are on digest mode.

I should say as an addendum, let's try to adjust the subject lines to reflect

what the message body is talking about. And, let's also keep discussions not

related to diabetes and blindness to a minimum.

You can always reach Tucker or me (the moderators) by sending an email

to:

blind-diabetics-owner

Thanks.

moderation request

To whomever moderates this list,

Every couple of weeks or so I find myself posting a request that people

trim old messages from threads which drag long trains of old postings

along. After a request is made to trim posts people are kind enough to do

so for a number of days but soon new long trains are forming.

At present there are 3 or 4 such long trains. The 'blind diets, was

introduction' one for example even after a subject line change continues to

carry up to 12 additions back to the original post in some versions.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Dan

Since I'm not on digest, I'm not even sure what this request is all about.

But I'm willing to help. Does this mean to delete everything below our

reply when responding to a topic?

Becky, if when you hit Control-R or whatever you do to reply to a message,

you first do Control-A, delete, it will erase all the previous stuff, except

the subject line, so you just send your writing.

Once you hit ctrl-r to reply, if you arrow down, you will find the most recent

header, and then the message you are replying to. If you keep going, you will

find other previous headers and other previous messages. You can keep the most

recent header to help identify whose message you are responding to, and even

parts of the most recent message in case it is necessary for clarification

purposes. If it is not necessary to keep any of it, just do what k has

suggested, that being, use ctrl-a to select all the text, and simply hit delete,

before beginning to type your response.
