*Understanding CCI Edits & the 8-Minute Rule*

Presenter: Rick Gawenda, PT

This 90-minute audio conference will focus on CCI edits and the use of

modifier 59 used by physical and occupational therapists as well as speech

language pathologists in all outpatient therapy settings. This audio

conference will also discuss Medicare's " 8-Minute Rule " and how much time of

a 15-minute code must be provided to bill that intervention to a

non-Medicare payor. Billing scenarios will be provided and answered with

rationale for the answer to ensure therapists and assistants are accurately

charging insurance carriers correctly for their services. Rick will also be

discussing the changes to the 2011 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and its

impact on outpatient therapy services, as well as providing an update on the

therapy cap dollar amount, changes to the 2011 CPT codes, and the all

important MPPR and its financial implications on providers.

Lead Wherever You Are: Becoming a Personal Leader (C1) is the first in a

series of leadership courses and other applied learning activities intended

to develop leadership skills and professionalism in physical therapists.

Evidence shows that leadership can be developed and developing leadership

skills is an integral part of professional development in physical therapist

practice. This conference emphasizes the development of new leadership

behaviors, behaviors that foster autonomous practice, accountability,

professional values, diversity, and ethics. Participants will learn how to

influence others to achieve shared goals, build better relationships and

networks; resolve conflicts, negotiate effectively and identify the value

and differences between leadership coaching and mentoring. Participants are

required to complete a leadership self-assessment and other preparatory work

prior to the start of the conference.
