Guest guest
Hello group: Our office has been asked by a patient to provide copies of her medical records for her to hand-carry. We are accustomed to insurance companies and attorneys making this request and have a fee we pass on to them for this service. What are your policies for passing on a charge to your patient? I ask this because we have since changed to a new E.H.R. and have to request our old records on a disk and also go to the old hand-written chart to copies lots more. What would you charge? Thanks for helping us. Alliance Physical Therapy, Eugene, Oregon
Guest guest
Hi , We charge $35 for med records regardless of who requests for it. We base it on our time, as it can take at least an hour to get the info together, which we then place on a CD, and a trip to the post office to certify the mail.
