Hi ,

We offer just one insurance plan for our employees (we have an extremely small

practice). I know of other places who offer one plan but 2 options (HMO vs

PPO). Our health insurance costs are one of our of highest expenses. We cover

60% and we do not cover the family, as this would be cost prohibitive for us.

It depends on the size of the practice. Hope this helps.

employer payment of health insurance premiums

Dear all,

Of those of you in small private practice with less than 15 total employees:

1. Do you enable your employees to select their plan or do you offer one plan

to your Full time employees?

2. What percentage of premium cost do you pay for each full time employee?

3. What percentage of premium cost do you pay for the employee's FAMILY do you

pay?

4. Do you have a fixed amount of money that you pay for each full time

employee's health insurance OR do you only pay a fixed percentage of health care

insurance premiums for your standard clinic policy?

5. Can your employees pick from a range of plans? If so, who pays the

difference when the plan THEY pick is more expensive than your average plan?

I am curious to see what small clinics are doing out there.

Many thanks for your help,

We have a staff of 14 and pay 100% of single. We do not offer family but also

provide short and long term disability. We have considered passing along the

annual increases but decided that really hurts those that can least afford it.

Insurance coverage starts after 3 months employment.

We cover eligible employees at 100% of a high-deductible PPO HSA compatible

plan. We have chosen an insurer who still treats providers fairly.

Quarterly, we deposit a certain amount in the employee's HSA policy, giving

them a " first dollar " benefit and should there be a catastrophic loss, they

are covered at 100% in network. We do not cover family members.

Switching to a high deductible policy saved us about 35% over our former PPO

policy, even with the quarterly deposits.
