Connie, we are neighbors!

Reading these posts, my hope is renewed. I was beginning to feel like a bum not knowing that MonSter reared its ugly head long ago.

On 3 March, I was told by the neurologist that I have MS, but he wants to conduct more tests to rule out other diseases such as lupus. Before Monday, I had forgotten about those quirky things that I have experienced over the last four to five years, most notably, and I am putting the pieces together in hopes that the puzzle will be solved. I suspected MS in 2006, but had not put all of the pieces together for other happenings, because I did not fully understand how the disease manifests itself. Also, I have hypothyroidism and lived with that diagnosis for about twenty-five years. As you may know, hypothyroidism is considered an autoimmune disease as well, and many of its symptoms mimic those of MS.

As a result, many of my "ailments" were attributed to the thyroid. This is a bummer because I accepted hypothyroidism as a part of my life; I accepted allergies; and, I accepted asthma. But to know I may have had MS long ago and it has gone undiagnosed is a disappointment, but I accept it as a human fallacy.

The main disappointment lies in the fact that I may have had a better quality of life if there was an earlier diagnosis, and if treatment had begun in the hope that the progression would have slowed. I move on from here.

I just so desperately want to defy it...

Thank you, Connie. I am glad to know that I am not a bum and also to know there may be some meds that can help.
