I think it is about time that this list had some fun.

I am tired of Fraud, Policy and Professionalism discussions for now

Here is what I propose

I want each and everyone of you to identify your favorite musical song

to be

played in a PT or OT clinic during patient care times. You can choose

whatever song you want - for whatever reason you want. You may want to

pick

something inspirational, motivating, or just a song that you or your

patients like. Remember this first one is for Geriatric patients - I

doubt

that rap or hip hop will be very popular. Just pick what you and your

patients like.

First we'll do Geriatric patients [others later]

Send a response to the PTManager list [just reply to this message] with:

Name of the Song

Artisit

No reason to justify your choice or even explain it

I will compile the entire playlist

Most of all - have fun with this

When I was in a NH setting we loved to sing Oh, When The Saints Go Marching on!

One time we made a train and went down the halls singing songs, residents

pushing chairs or holding on to rails, walker, etc singing, Going to the Chapel,

When the Saints, etc. They had as much fun as we did and the residents and

employees were singing and had better spirits all day.

with every patient everyday!!!!!

That's Life - Sinatra

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,

A poet, a pawn and a king.

I've been up and down and over and out

And I know one thing:

Each time I find myself, flat on my face,

I pick myself up and get back in the race.

This is a wonderful idea.  As a music lover and musician I would like to

offer the link below.  It's not exactly what you may have had in mind,

perhaps.  But I think it illustrates how geriatric patients not only like

music, but also about how a geriatric non-patient---with a significant

" handicap " ---also loves music and is also coping with his " condition. "

I think it is about time that this list had some fun.

I am tired of Fraud, Policy and Professionalism discussions for now

Here is what I propose

I want each and everyone of you to identify your favorite musical song to be

played in a PT or OT clinic during patient care times. You can choose

whatever song you want - for whatever reason you want. You may want to pick

something inspirational, motivating, or just a song that you or your

patients like. Remember this first one is for Geriatric patients - I doubt

that rap or hip hop will be very popular. Just pick what you and your

patients like.

First we'll do Geriatric patients [others later]

I forgot about a song a resident sang me! Late demetia, but I could start the

words to Bicycle built for two, he would sing the entire song to me. Joy every

time I would go into the Dementa unit.

Thanks for this! Reminds me of the joy of why I went into speech not all the

extra. The love and joy of my Pts. Songs do so much to the spirit of Pts. Even

those who have stopped communicating but remember those special songs in their

past:)

, you had met my father-in-law, so should really appreciate this. For years

into his retirement he played piano for seniors at nursing homes and senior

centers. He made playlists that included special days and events, and always

commented that patriotic songs got some of his audience singing, or standing to

salute, when they had not been communicative at all.

He himself was in Rehab following a bilateral subdural hematoma 5 years back,

and the staff wanted to get him back to his passion of playing the piano. After

several weeks of hard work they wheeled him to the piano in the dining area to

play. His first tune: You'll Never Walk Alone........... he smirked, and we all

started laughing.

A suggestion for the clinic, plug into Sirius/XM radio. Station #71 Sinatra or

#4 40's will keep an easy stream of tunes coming.

with Thee " ...

Good morning all

I have taught an exercise class for seniors for 8 years now. The things

that get them moving:

Shout (from the Animal House soundtrack)

Anything from the 50's and 60's,

Anything Elvis,

And, in honor of one of my long time participants and now dear friend:

Sex Bomb, Tom :)!

This is a fiesty lady who drives a mustang and has recently been diagnosed

with breast cancer. She is fighting it with a great sense of humor. Very

inspiring to me.

Thanks for this opportunity.

While Born in the fifties, I do like the music of that time. having been a big

Beatles fan and played drums in a rock band in high school and college, I love

the 60's sounds especially the FAB4 (Thats what the Beatles were called for

those too young to remember and those too old not to want to remember) So off of

my friend Dave's suggestions, get on the XM/Sirius and explore stations 5, 6, 7,

8.

as for singles, the 2 songs I sang to my daughters when they were young:

1. " My Girl " by The Temptations

2. " Ain't no mountain High Enough " by Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terril
