Guest guest
Does anyone have any experience using modifier 22 for " unusually long " speech therapy treatments? I found out about it on the ASHA website, but there is resistance from my billing department to allow us to use it due to increased risk of audit if it is overused. My thought is that we could use it for the very rare case when a speech pathologist needs to do community outings for cognitive training. Because speech treatment is untimed, currently we would be reimbursed below cost for such an activity. What are the benefits and risks of using modifier 22 to increase reimbursement for a longer treatment session? Thank you, Leigh , MSPT San Francisco, CA
