Guest guest
The proposed Final Rule has been released and includes many changes including group therapy. The proposed rules state that a group MUST consist of 4 patients and the minutes would be divided by 4. I would encourage you to review the Proposed Final Rule in the Federal Register to get all the info regarding groups as well as info about a significant reduction in RUG rates for parity adjustments, a reduction of available ARD dates, and an additional Change of Therapy (COT) assessment. > > > Has anyone heard anything about CMS changing the playing field for calculating minutes for RUG scores in a SNF. I attended a meeting the other day and and MDS nurse informed the group that CMS is considering treating group therapy minutes the same way they do concurrent therapy minutes currently. Therefore if you billed for group therapy for three patients, instead of all three patients recieving credit for the actual time they participated in the group, they would only recieve credit for 1/2 the minutes toward their RUG score. This is supposed to start in October of this year according to the MDS nurse. Can anyone confirm or reply if you have heard something similar. > > W.
