Guest guest
Sam I have always understood the INR to be the normalized version of PT results. Different labs use different reagents to perform the PT test and therefore different results could occur among labs. The INR equation is the attempt to normalize this data so comparisons can be made across all labs. A normal INR for someone on anticoagulation meds is 2 - 3. Therefore, I see the PT as " raw " data and the INR as the " useful " clinical data. Some MDs say that as long as the INR is within 2.0 and 3.0 it doesn't matter how high is the PT. Also, got many different info. fro colleagues. Any Evidence Based Practice or data about it? Thanks in advance! SAM, PT
