Guest guest
Merritt- Thanks so much! I am really excited. Was there anything you didn't bring that you wish you had? AND are the rooms private? Guest guest
Let's see.... I think that Dr. R 'orders' a private room for all his patients. I had a private room. I'd ask him, to be sure, tho'. I took a large robe that I could put on when I walked the halls. And slippers. (Modest, I guess...but there were quite a few visitors in the halls and if the sleeves are large enough, your i.v. tubing (which is quite long) can slide right through. Take a pillow for the ride home. You'll want to hold it against your tummy to keep it more still. It REALLY helps. Make sure you have chap stick and lotion for dry skin and lips. Will you be going home after surgery or back to a hotel? I'll keep thinking, and maybe others will have suggestions too. Talk to you soon. Guest guest
Bonnie, You'll rest so much better at home. I'm glad you don't have to do the hotel thing. I took my own p.j.s, but I don't think I ended up wearing them. BUT...I would definitely take some. The problem is that the i.v. lines don't let you wear a regular gown or shirt (for long). A robe works for the short time you're up and walking, but unless you i.v.s get taken out, you probably won't be able to wear your on jammies. The hospital DOES have BIG...I mean BIG! gowns...but you have to make sure they have the right size for you. They put a regular one on me the second day and it was o.k., but not nearly as nice and roomy as the big ones, so make sure they get you the right size gown and you should be comfortable. Another trick is to wear two gowns...one worn the regular way and the other worn as a 'robe'. Anyway...you get the idea. Hugs, Merritt Re: Re: Surgery Tuesday...WOW!! >Merritt- >Thanks so much- I will be going home since I live in Cary- only a 30 min >drive.
