Guest guest
You would bill for 45 minutes (3 time based units) under your NPI and Medicare number. The PT must be on the premise when the PTA is treating a Medicare beneficiary in the private practice setting. Under your California PT Practice Act, you must co-sign the PTA's documentation within 7 days of the date of service. I searched the CMS website and Palmetto's for a precise answer but came up with nothing. Please help if you know the answer to the question. Let's say a licensed PTA sees a patient (direct contact for 30min and the supervising PT sees that patient for and additional 15 min (direct contact)on the same day. In this scenario, do I have 45 min of billable time under the PT's NPI and medicare number(PTAN)? Or is it 15 min of billable time since the PT saw the patient for 15 min only? Thank you in advance for any input! Hailey J. Clinic Manager Good Rehab Physical Therapy. LA, CA
