Guest guest
Jerel, The general standard is 1 PT to 6 patients and I use the same for OT. It rarely can go higher but can go lower if you have a head injury unit, spinal cord unit or a pediatric unit. Deane W. Guest guest
IRF or acute care? Our expectation is that each therapist have 6 hours of productive time each day or at least 24 billable units. Guest guest
A typical casload for one person is 9-14 patients. The range is due to Evals. vs Tx and the duration of sessions (15 minutes to 45 minutes). We do not use Techs in acute care. Guest guest
Hi Jerel, my previous reply is not accurate if you are referring to an IRF setting. My reply was for inpatient acute care (general hospital setting). For our IRF, PT's see 4 patients for BID and OT's see 6-8 patients for 60-90 min sessions. Guest guest
Who provides your PT's and PTA's with " additional assist " when needed, if you don't utilize techs? Our nursing staff ratios don't allow for CNA's to break away to help us on a consistent basis. Guest guest
When nursing does not provide CNA's, the rehab techs provide aide coverage as well as performing their normal duties. Fortunately, this doesn't happen often.
