Now this here is to be very proud of. It takes lots of control and hard work

to get it under 6. I hope to be there my self when I go in this month.

If you were rock 'N' Rolling to day, did you Shimmy like my sister Kate as

well?

Ha Ha.

test results

Well, I went to see the endo today. My A1C was 6.3-up .6 since last time,

cholesterol was 160 with HDL at 57 and LDL at 76, creatiniine was stable at

3.0 (this has been running this high for several years, but the doc is happy

it is stable) and I lost 3 pounds.

Then we went to our ceremics class and while there experienced a 5.4 point

earthquake! Quite exciting withen the earth rocks and rolls!s

Pat,

I hope my sister and brother-in-law, and their 4 little

girls, in Burbank weren't doing the jig today!

Can you identify why your A1C climbed Pat? I know one thing, I envy your HDL!

Mine runs around 25.

It went up because I was having trouble keeping my BG down in the late

afternoons and evenings. I upped the basal rate on my afternoon dosages on

my pump, so hopefully it will now go down. I'll be glad when they get the

new software for the Voice so I can print my results out for him.

Probably in Burbank they did not feel the quake as much as they are about 20

miles or more north/west of me. My friend who lives about 3 miles from the

epicenter had some glasses and dishes fall and break, but we were okay here.

The news is riding it to death!

Are you sure they can't print out the readings from your meter? The issue about

accessibility doesn't mean the software isn't usable by sighted staff in the

doctor's office. Anything on this Ruth?

Well the doc would have to have the software and cable too, wouldn't he? As

I don't have the right cable, it won't work, I don't think.

Hi ,

Just a suggestion that you have probably already thought of, and a little more

work, but you could enter your readings in to a spread sheet and take that to

the DRs. this is what I do.

cheers,

Brett.

I know, Bret. But, I am basically too lazy and really don't have time to do

that 4-6 times a day either. I feel rather guilty saying that, but oh,

well!

I used to print out my readings with the Accuchek meters I've had, and one time

I wasn't able to, so I took the meter with me and asked the staff if they had

the ability to print out the readings. They said sure, and a few minutes later,

I walked back for my appointment with a print out in hand. I would think the

Prodigy folks would want doctor's offices to have the software and a cable so

they can accommodate folks.

Hehehe, I know the feeling. I do about three weeks then slacken off for a week

or two, then get back in to it. I do find that my control is tighter when I do

keep records, which is why I keep trying to do it. Says he who hasn't done it

since Thursday, Smile.

Cheers,

Brett.

Hi Dave,

The software does not come with the meter. It has to be downloaded from the

Prodigy web site. The cable was never included either. Since you bought

the meter earlier this year, the cable would have worked only with the Voice

according to what the office told me.

Well, it sounds like, if we gave our doctor's office the heads-up, and sent

them the software, then brought the cable with us, they should be able to

print out the readings. I know I wasn't the only person they did this for

when I had my Accuchek/Voicemate, so I kind of think a lot of offices are at

least vaguely familiar with this, if not very familiar.

Should I have gotten the software when I received my meter earlier this

year?

Thanks.

My control is significantly better when I keep records, too, but I don't do it.

It's way too much work, and I wish there was an easy way to do it! But it's much

harder to keep good records nowadays than it was when I was only taking two

shots a day and only tested 3-4 times!

The nephrologist was glad to see my test results today. My creatinine level

was down slightly and all the chemicals are okay. The only problem was that

I have become anemic; so back to the Araness shots very 3 weeks. Hopefully

thing will go as they have in the past where I get an Araness shot every 3

weeks for 2 or times and then the anemia goes away for a few months

Hi Pat,

How anemic are you? I've been anemic for many years--thanks to CKD. A male is

supposed to be around 14 I believe, and I run between 10-11. Occasionally I

bounce up to 12, and sometimes I hang out in the low eleven's.

I often get tired during the day and attribute it to being anemic. Do you get

that fatigued feeling?

Yes, I have had a lot f fatigue lately. My hemoglobin went below 10.

Usually after a few doses of Araness, it goes up to around 12 and I don't

get so tired so easily. Also, because I take a blood thinner (plavex) and

am now anemic, I bleed like crazy with even the smallest of scratches! Very

irritating. The doc said that should improve as the hemoglobin level up.
