Guest guest
Hello Group, I recently heard and TV interview with a Chiropractor and a Dentist and it was mentioned by the Chiropractor that they expect their practice act to change to allow them to diagnose and treat TMJ with manipulations. Is anyone on the list aware of this legislation pending? What is everyone's thought on this concept? Thanks for your consideration, Don, PT Michigan PS: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Guest guest
I can see their clinical point.... sorry. In GA, there are/were chiros in Atlanta who treated TMJ along with massage therapists in their office. It makes sense for them to manipulate C0-3 to facilitate the bony support for the soft tissue sling apparatus of the TMJ. The question is, will they farm out the soft tissue treatment to qualified clinicians and will they attempt to mobilize the TMJ itself? I know that all they do is their version of manipulation, but I have to say it is not common that I find a chiro that will actually take the time to REALLY assess a patient let alone perform a specific, appropriate treatment. I believe MI should reconsider allowing this change.
