Guest guest
Cor, listening to all your woes about what they get and when makes me feel quite lucky! I will not be sending Milly to school until she is legally obliged to go - as a working mum the thought of having to deal with half-day places and school holidays etc fills me with dread. She does a working day (as does Tom) in a wonderful nursery near to home where she is very stretched. They had their Ofsted inspection a couple of mths ago and the *only* criticism was that they did not have quite enough multicultural artefacts, and those that they did have were not easily accessible. Boy, can I live with that as a failing!!! She is so happy there - as is Tom, who often wails when it's time to leave....! Clearly, I have to pay for the luxury of having her in private nursery - from the age of 4 I get a small subsidy in lieu of nursery place, but not much. But the benefit of not having to manage after school and holiday care outweighs this big time. *Why* is childcare so difficult and inequitable?
