Rick Gawenda, PT President/CEO Gawenda Seminars http://www.gawendaseminars.com > Recently a colleague mentioned that G0283-GP is the correct code to use when billing medicare part B in California for any unattended e-stim. Guest guest
Kirk: If your MC intermediary is Palmetto, Medicare will pay for unattended estim but according to the LCD, will only pay for the first month of treatment. I haven't read the document lately, but I don't think this has changed. You can access the LCD on the Palmetto website. Click " accept " at the prompt, then Jurisdiction 1, Part B directly below the main banner, then click " Medical Policies " on the left menu and then LCDs and NCDs on the left menu. Click the drop down menu on the right to show 100 LCDs per page. Then use your internet browser search to " find on page " " Physical Therapy. " There will be a discussion under G0283 for the use of the code. This code is not the one you would use for wound care, which is another " G " code. The LCD number is L28290 Viel, Billing Manager Mt.
