Guest guest
Dana, After Round 1 my son took Metronidazole Benzoate for his c. difficile and candida albicans bacteria for 10 days. Then, we were told to continue with the chelation. He take Pro-Bio Gold and Nystatin. Do you know of anything over the counter that we can take for his c. difficile strain? Thanks! This does sound exactly like yeast or bacteria for my kids http://www.autismchannel.net/dana/yeast.htm I would definitely consider reducing the dose of DMSA. Also, Nystatin is not effective on all strains of yeast, so that might be the problem also. I don't know anything about this specific bug, but I have heard the best results about Culturelle, so you can consider trying that. I use GSE for yeast, but it does kill ALL the yeast, which tends to make bacteria overgrow because there is no yeast to check it. Guest guest
Jerry wrote, Some think women may be more likely subjects has something to do with placental cells left behind during or after pregnancy This may be true for all autoimmune diseases." As clarification, the effect of the wandering fetal/maternal cells may not show up in the mother but may affect the child or, as I understand it, future generations. The article I have (New York Times) says that the more similar the mother and child are genetically, the greater the odds that any misplaced cells will cause a problem. Jerry, you said no specific drug had been proven to be an AIH trigger? I thought some had -- but you haven't been wrong yet that I know of. Guest guest
HARPER What the report said was " so far no particular drug " has been shown... It's in the paragragh before the conclusion. The other 2 sites I sent were in answer to questions and don't mention drugs as a trigger or cause. jerry

Help Posted by: "katherinerountree" kate@... katherinerountree Wed Oct 20, 2010 7:25 am (PDT) I need help for my grandmother and I hope that someone from this group will be able to assist me. About 8 weeks ago she had a diverticular bleed. The gastroenterologist ended up having to remove her entire colon. She doesn't have an ostomy bag. Last week she was readmitted into the hospital for vomiting, diarrhea and a burning sensation in her stomach. An esophageal ulcer was found, which once treated help the burning and vomiting. She was also found to be anemic and was given transfusions. However, her diarrhea only increased. TPN was started on Saturday (after 10+ very loose stools Friday night) and she is feeling better. The diarrhea has subsided (due to NPO), but her docs can't explain why she continues to have diarrhea when she advances her diet. It seems that there is a osmotic shift with certain foods contributing to a large amount of water being dumped into the small intestine. She was on a bland diet at home prior to the readmittance to the hospital. Our obvious concerns are malnutrition and dehydration once she does advance. So, we have to find the diet that will not cause anymore diarrhea. Have any of you worked with patients similar to this? Email me privately if you have advice/experience please Thanks, Kate Rountree katerountreedietetics Back to top Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post Messages in this topic (11) 2a. Wed Oct 20, 2010 5:44 pm (PDT) Great question! Please post the responses. I thought I read something about samples of protein supplements being considered food, not drugs. I believe that vitamins may fall into the category too. a Serafino-Cross, MS, RD In a message dated 10/20/2010 4:41:07 P.M.
